Ideas

Idea 1

Show the different life stages of a person from a baby to an elderly person.

Emphasis on the most crucial stages of life.. Babys first steps, first day at school, first medal, first day at work, marriage, grandchildren.

Split the screen to two - one showing a baby learning to walk, the other showing an elderly man with a walking stick also struggling to walk.

It would end showing how the two stages meet in the middle.

Idea 2

No story but just showing the different seasons and how they evolve. Show how the people also evolve with the seasons - change in clothing, surroundings, temperature.

Spring - Tree's grow, daffodils grow, rain, april shows, puddles, wellington boots, rain coats, umbrellas

Summer - Swimming pools, beach, sea and sand, bikinis, Sun, flip flops, Shorts, Beach ball

Autumn - Tree leaves falling, brown, Mac coats, scarves, wine, wind

Winter - Snow, christmas, gloves and hat, christmas tree, white, nighttime, fireplace, candles, lights, jumpers, wool

Idea 3

Have a theme of a country and show all the things people could relate to it.

Italty - Gondalas, Pizza, Pasta, Flag

Inspirations and Ideas

I looked at some different types of Motion Graphics as i tend to always go for a story type of animation.

I found some interesting pieces which dont tell a story but give the audience an idea of what the story is about by incorporating certain shapes and objects into aspects of the film.

This one is really simple but is interesting to watch. It uses sea creatures in a fun way and incorporates it into the film title.

This is one i really liked. For my final piece, i would like to create something like this. It has a good use of 3d layers and i like the transitions between the scenes.

Tutorials

Aneekas tutorial

I found this tutorial quite easy to follow as the guide was very detailed.
I learnt how to use fractal noise to create the spinning orb effect and learnt it could be used for many other techniques such as water, waves etc.

Drews tutorial

I found this tutorial harder as there was a lot more to it even though the guide was detailed.
This technique to create illumination was really interesting and quite simple once i got the hang of it.

Science Museum

Aneeka and I went to the science museum to have  a look at the motion graphics and interactive systems.
I wasnt expecting there to be that many interactive and motion graphic elements so i was pleasently surprised when i noticed the large amount of it around me.
The motion graphics games were an interesting way for the visitors to learn information. The 'who am i' games allowed the visitors to find out more about themselves and other people who visited. This section seemed largely popular and i found many people enjoyed taking the time to learn through the interactive systems.
There was a lot of infographics used aswell, where statistics and data would be displayed in an interesting way.

Lab 2

In this lab, we had to create a piece incorporating; looping expression, particle playground, flocking, 3d rotation and 3d camera movement.

I found some of the techniques quite easy as i have used them previously so it only took a short while to refresh my mind.
Flocking however, i have never used before, therefore it took me a while to come to grips with how to use the technique. With some more practice i hope to perfect this technique.

Motion Graphics Lab 1

In this lab, we were given 3 hours to incorporate certain techniques into our work. We could make whatever we likes as long as we explored the following: Time interpolation Cloning and painting Layering Various transitions Masking and alpha channels

New Year, New Blog...

I am now in my final year at Brunel University. I chose to take advanced motion graphics as one of my modules this year as i found it enjoyable last year. It allowed me to learn new techniques and explore different styles. I will be posting more on what i learn and where i find my inspiration throughtout the year...
